Week 6- Monster Mash

One of our favorite holidays is coming up…Halloween! We want to see your favorite scary, funny, or mythical costume. To stay on theme, you will blend Cloud slimes that look eerily similar to spider webs and top them with creepy cool charms to match. You’ll get into the spirit by making potions for the occasion too. BOO!

  • Make sure your full name is displayed
  • Have all your supplies ready and near you (one of the bags are for “all weeks,” so please make sure you have that along with Week 5)
  • Try to get on the Zoom 5 minutes early
  • Raise your hand for questions (if it’s dire when we teach) but we prefer to have write us the chat box so we don’t lose too much time
  • Have your activators made and ready to go (a how to video is below in the next section)

Slime of The Week:

Cloud slime is one of the most nuanced and difficult to make. It has taken professional slimers a lot of time to get it right. This class will show you the art of the cloud and how to make perfect drizzles.

Provided Materials:

  • 1 School Glue bottle
  • 2 Activators (these will last for multiple weeks!)
    • Regular Activator (mix 1 tsp of Borax powder with 1 cup of hot water until it fully dissolves)
    • Strong Activator (mix 1.5 tsp of Borax powder with 1 cup of hot water until it fully dissolves)
  • Snowonder packet
  • Liquid Watercolor
  • 1 Bottle of Scent (your choice!)
  • Charms of your choice

Need to Gather:

  • Lotion (any type will work)
  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • 1 Bowl to inflate the Snow
  • Spoon or Spatula
  • 1 tsp measuring spoon
  • 1 Cup of water for the Snow

Craft of the Week:

It is time to get into the spooky season spirit! For our craft we will be making potions that use some magic and science to bubble over. Think about what type of potion you want to brew. BOO!

Provided Materials:

  • Liquid Watercolor
  • Biodegradable Glitter

Need to Gather:

  • A small jar
  • 1 spoonful of Baking Soda
  • 1/2 Cup of White Vinegar
  • Liquid Soap (hand or dish)
  • A larger bowl to contain overflow

Potion Craft Instructions:

  1. Set up your mason jar in your larger bowl to catch any overflow
  2. First, fill the jar half way with vinegar, then stir in a spoonful of your chosen color.

  3. Next add a big squeeze of liquid soap and as much glitter as you'd want.

  4. Add in a spoonful of baking soda and start to stir with the magic wand.

  5. The potion will bubble and froth, fizzing out over the jar!

  6. If you want keep adding more baking soda, liquid soap, and vinegar and stir it up! You can change colors during the experiment by simply adding them over the top.

Sounds of Sloomoo:

We’ll also be playing our theme song and discussing ASMR. Below is a link to both - the ASMR is the same track we have in our space, where you can listen with ear phones while you play with slime. You’re the only people we’ve ever sent this to!!!
