Week 4- Midnight Dance Party

This week, you’ll be staying up late (in theme only, parents)! Bring on the neon Jelly slime! Our craft involves DIY sunglasses and you’ll have a glowing surprise. To come prepared, wear something neon. It’s an after school party like nobody’s business!

  • Make sure your full name is displayed
  • Have all your supplies ready and near you (one of the bags are for “all weeks,” so please make sure you have that along with Week 1)
  • Try to get on the Zoom 5 minutes early
  • Raise your hand for questions (if it’s dire when we teach) but we prefer to have write us the chat box so we don’t lose too much time
  • Have your activators made and ready to go (a how to video is below in the next section)

Slime of The Week:

Learn how to make jelly slime, which is a beautiful texture that’s stretchy, inflatable and perfect for slime pops, pokes and sizzles. It is a fine art, much like making an intricate dessert. Our Kitchen and Experience Director, Sasha of @someotherslime, will be sharing the recipe we use and demonstrating it, step by step, so you can become a jelly expert.

Provided Materials:

  • 1 Clear Glue bottle
  • 2 Activators (these will last for multiple weeks!)
    • Regular Activator (mix 1 tsp of Borax powder with 1 cup of hot water until it fully dissolves)
    • Strong Activator (mix 1.5 tsp of Borax powder with 1 cup of hot water until it fully dissolves)
  • 1 Green Packet of Snowonder
  • 1 Bottle of Scent (your choice!)
  • Charms of your choice
  • Neon Pigment

Need to Gather:

  • Vegetable Glycerin (this week Lotion cannot be used as a substitute)
  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • Spoon or Spatula
  • 1 tsp measuring spoon

Craft of the Week:

For our craft we will be making DIY Shutter Shades! They are the perfect addition to any dance party to top off your outfit. We have provided a shutter shade template that will help us with our creations. Gather any neon colorants you may have and we can get to creating!

Provided Materials:

  • Shutter Shade Templates
  • School Glue (this can be substituted with tape)

Need to Gather:

  • Cardboard or thick paper
  • Scissors
  • Pencil or Sharpie
  • Markers, Paint, or Colored Tape (whichever you want to use for color!)
  • Tape (if you would rather use this than glue)

DIY Shutter Shade Instructions:

  1. Cut out your preferred glasses shape from the template
  2. Layer the template on to the cardboard or thick paper that you are using
  3. Cut out the shape of the glasses
  4. Repeat steps 1-3 with the arms of the glasses
  5. Once you have all 3 items cut out you can use either glue or tape to attach the lens to the arms of the glasses
  6. Decorate your glasses with paint, markers, or colored tape!

Sounds of Sloomoo:

We’ll also be playing our theme song and discussing ASMR. Below is a link to both - the ASMR is the same track we have in our space, where you can listen with ear phones while you play with slime. You’re the only people we’ve ever sent this to!!!
