Week 1- Animal Party

Our first week of Sloomoo After School will be all about animals! You will learn about Base vs. Thick and Glossy slimes and how to make each. Then everyone will make puffy paint (from scratch) to whip up cute animal-themed artwork!

  • Make sure your full name is displayed
  • Have all your supplies ready and near you (one of the bags are for “all weeks,” so please make sure you have that along with Week 1)
  • Try to get on the Zoom 5 minutes early
  • Raise your hand for questions (if it’s dire when we teach) but we prefer to have write us the chat box so we don’t lose too much time
  • Have your activators made and ready to go (a how to video is below in the next section)

Slime of The Week:

This week we will be making and comparing the often confused thick and glossy slime and base slime! Base slime is the beginning of most other textures we make. Base slime is always made with School Glue which allows it to be transformed into other textures. Thick and glossy is one of the OG textures of slime- made with Glue All so it is heavier and the best texture for poking and making bubbles. We are going to share our secret recipe with this class, taught by Sasha (a.k.a. @someotherslime), our Kitchen & Experience Director. Once you know how to make a good thick and glossy, you can easily transform it into other textures too.

Provided Materials:

  • 2 empty containers
  • 2 School Glue bottles
  • 2 Activators (these will last for multiple weeks!)

Craft of the Week:

For our first craft we will be making DIY Puffy Paint! We want to see everyone create 3D animals that we can show off next week during show and tell! Start thinking about what your furry friend should be.

Provided Materials:

  • Liquid Watercolor Packet
  • Paint Brush
  • 1 Bottle of School Glue

Need to Gather:

  • Piece of construction paper
  • 1 small bowl per color you want to make
  • Foaming shaving cream

DIY Puffy Paint Instructions:

  1. Take your small bowl and put equal parts shaving cream and glue in it
  2. Add around 5 drops of water color to the bowl
  3. Mix with your paintbrush and adjust the consistency as needed. If your paint isn't puffy enough add more shaving cream. If it is too airy add more glue
  4. Add more water color to the mixture if you want a richer, darker color as well
  5. Repeat steps 1-4 with any other colors you would like to make
  6. Paint your masterpiece!
  7. Let your painting dry for at least 24 hours on a flat surface where it will not be disturbed

Sounds of Sloomoo

We’ll also be playing our theme song and discussing ASMR. Below is a link to both - the ASMR is the same track we have in our space, where you can listen with ear phones while you play with slime. You’re the only people we’ve ever sent this to!!!
