Week 4- Splatter Paint

A huge inspiration for Sloomoo is contemporary art. So we’re embracing splatter paint this week. We’ll begin the session by showing off our Up Cycled Calm Down Jars to our fellow campers. Then we will be making our favorite type of slime, BUTTER! We will show you how to take these up a notch by making them two-toned and innovating with new designs and color swirls. For our craft of the week, we will be taking 6 x 6” canvases to make some serious slime art. We are excited to see all of your masterpieces the following week!

**Please note that we have changed the Zoom platform to be a Zoom webinar for the remaining weeks. You have received a new ID and PW to log on via email.**

  • Make sure your full name is displayed
  • Have all your supplies ready and near you (one of the bags are for “all weeks,” so please make sure you have that along with Week 1)
  • Try to get on the Zoom 5 minutes early
  • Please stay on mute during class
  • Raise your hand for questions (if it’s dire when we teach) but we prefer to have write us the chat box so we don’t lose too much time
  • Have your activator made and ready to go (a how to video is below in the next section)

Slime of The Week:

This week we will be making one our favorite textures- Butter Slime! It’s holdable, playable, stretchy, and soothing. Adults tend to appreciate it as it’s not as sticky as other types of slime and it’s perfect for improving manual dexterity. Taught by Sasha (@someotherslime), our Kitchen and Experience Director, you will learn exactly how we make our butter slimes.

Provided Materials:

  • 1 Bottle of School Glue
  • Container of Air Dry Clay
  • Activator (mix 1 tsp of Borax powder with 1 cup of hot water until it fully dissolves)
  • 1 Bottle of Scent (your choice!)
  • Liquid Watercolor Pack
  • Charms of your choice
  • Slime Jar

Need to Gather:

  • Vegetable Glycerin or Lotion (any type of lotion works)
  • 1 Mixing Bowl
  • Spoon or Spatula
  • 1 tsp measuring spoon

Craft of the Week:

This week we will be making abstract Slime Art! These beautiful pieces are made by "painting" with slime and the liquid watercolor pack. We can't wait to see what everyone creates in show and tell next week.

Provided Materials:

  • 4 oz Thick and Glossy Slime
  • 6" x 6" Canvas
  • Liquid Watercolor Pack
  • Charms of your choice

Need to Gather:

  • Paper towel or plate
  • Any other charms or additions you want on your canvas (optional)
  • Pen or pencil (optional)

Slime Canvas Art Instructions:

  1. Take your thick and glossy slime and divide it into as many pieces as colors you would like to make. (Ex. If you will be "painting" with blue, yellow, and green then divide your slime into three pieces)
  2. Take your liquid watercolor and add a few drops to each piece of your thick and glossy slime. Mix the color in until the colors are fully incorporated
  3. Draw or trace an image or outline on to your canvas (optional)
  4. Put your canvas on a paper towel or plate (in case slime spills over the sides) and start to take small pieces of your slime and apply to the canvas. This can be a free form or you can fill in the drawing you have made
  5. Continue to add slime on to the canvas until it is filled up to your liking. You can also add pieces of slime you do not play with anymore to make varying textures on the canvas
  6. Add charms on to the canvas by pressing them into the slime (optional)
  7. Keep your canvas on a flat and even surface and let it dry for around 4 days
  8. Once it is completely dry you can pick up and enjoy your slimey art masterpiece!

Sounds of Sloomoo:

We’ll also be playing our theme song and discussing ASMR. Below is a link to both - the ASMR is the same track we have in our space, where you can listen with ear phones while you play with slime. You’re the only people we’ve ever sent this to!!!
